Tanti i momenti in cui l’evento musicale si è trasformato in evento sociale, come durante tutti i richiami al #metoo, il discorso di Hillary Clinton intenta a leggere un passo del libro su Donald Trump e le rose bianche sfoggiate dalle star sul red carpet a sostegno delle vittime di molestie sessuali. I riconoscimenti dei Grammy Awards 2018 sono passati durante la serata per qualche attimo in secondo piano, per poi riprendersi la scena con il predominio di Bruno Mars, vincitore di sei premi su sei nomination.
