Pechino batte Almaty: sarà la prima città ad ospitare sia le Olimpiadi estive che quelle invernali

E’ stata scelta oggi la città ospitante per i Giochi Invernali del 2022. A Kuala Lumpur, in Malesia, 85 membri del Comitato Olimpico Internazionale, con una votazione a scrutinio segreto, hanno scelto quale tra le due città candidate in lizza, Pechino e Almaty, in Kazakistan, ospiterà l’Olimpiade Invernale 2022. Per convincere i delegati, la metropoli cinese ha puntato sull’esperienza derivata dall’organizzazione dei Giochi 2008, sottolineando come la sua sia una scelta sicura e che può vantare una solida forza economica. “Se scegliete Pechino, il popolo cinese metterà in scena un’edizione dei Giochi eccellente e straordinaria“, ha spiegato il presidente cinese Xi Jinping in un messaggio video. In caso di vittoria, Pechino diventerebbe la prima città ad ospitare sia i Giochi estivi che quelli invernali. Almaty, che aveva già provato a candidarsi nel 2006 e nel 2014, ha esortato il Cio a ‘resistere’ alla tentazione di riassegnare un’edizione delle Olimpiadi alla Cina, spiegando che l’assegnazione alla città kazaka porterebbe un messaggio positivo: anche i paesi più ‘piccoli’ e in ascesa possono ospitare uno dei più grandi eventi sportivi del mondo. “Non siamo una scelta rischiosa“, ha assicurato il primo ministro Karim Massimov. “Rappresentiamo – ha aggiunto – l’occasione di dimostrare che anche le nazioni emergenti possono ospitare i Giochi“.
A vincere è Pechino! Sarà la capitale cinese ad ospitare dunque i Giochi Olimpici invernali 2022.
